About the Job

Leading firm in lower Manhattan seeks a JAVA BPM Architect as a w2 consultant:
 
the Solution Architect will be responsible for the definition of IT solutions and accountability across high profile internal projects as they shape and put together a 3-year strategy and roadmap. In turn they will oversee this roadmap and work with the business and IT teams to deliver this accordingly.

• Other responsibilities will include providing architectural subject matter expertise to optimize business processes, work with Data architecture teams to ensure a consistent approach to architecture.
• For this role you will be expected to have in-depth IT experience as an architect ideally within a financial institution, regulatory compliance, financial trading environment or investment banking infrastructure. You should have a strong knowledge of Restful approach to APIs within a Service Orientated Architecture (SOA) and knowledge of integration technologies like JBOSS, TIBCO or MULE ESB and MQ Series.
• IT knowledge and experience in workflow and document management as well as broader IT areas (Hardware, Networking, Middleware). Application development knowledge and experience (J2EE, Design, Analysis).
• Certified in TOGAF 9 architecture framework and description methodology a significant plus
• Interpret Business needs and apply innovative technology solutions with a view towards immediate implementation, target state and transitional road-maps, balancing Risk, Financial, Process and Resource factors.
• Translate complex concepts into multiple architectural ''views'' understandable by varying stake-holders, including process, operational, technical and cost views.
• Effectively communicate, interact with and influence Senior Technical associates, Business Partners, and Executives. Work effectively within a fast-paced, cohesive regional/global Architecture team and willing to learn fast and adapt quickly to change
• Resolving, compromising, and influencing the positive outcome of conflicting objectives and priorities.
• Strong, proactive leadership capabilities – inspiring fellowship, ability to stimulate and participate in creative thinking.
• Expertise in architecture patterns and best practices
• Demonstrated deep knowledge of programming in java and implementing java solutions.
• Expertise in enterprise architecture, Solution architecture
• Experience with Business Rule Engines, BPM, BI and ETL.
• Knowledge of Caching Frameworks (Websphere command cache or Eh-Cache), Hibernate, Spring Batch, Mobile technology frameworks
• Knowledge of scripting technologies (Javascript, Ajax libraries (GWT, YUI, JQuery), Jython
• Consulting skills such as interviewing stakeholders, conducting architecture reviews, and consensus building
• Experience leading large group meetings/information gathering sessions with senior-level executives and excellent written and oral communication skills
• Professional experience with n-tier application architectures development
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with ability to function at both the detail and conceptual levels
• Knowledge of Data Modeling, Data Integration
• Experience with service-oriented architectures and XML
• Knowledge of Appian BPM Suite a plus. Knowledge of JBPM a plus.
• Understanding of solution architecture leveraging a variety of technologies including using Microsoft SharePoint 2010, and Windows SharePoint Services technology platforms (including the BI components of SharePoint).
• Additional technical qualifications include hands-on experience in several of the following products or technologies: Eclipse IDE, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Mega, JEE 5, JRE 1.6, Spring 3 Framework, Spring MVC, EJB 3, MQ Series, JMS, XML, Soap, Web Services, agile development methodologies, Oracle, SQL Server.
Knowledge of Microsoft .net technologies a plus.
 
Other Challenges
You will use your broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect solutions including COTS and standard platforms integration and deep expertise in Java/Spring solutions by mapping common customer business problems to end-to-end technology solutions.
Demonstrated ability to engage in senior level technology decision maker discussions related to agility business value, and Java is also a must.
 
Architects are key enablers for other consultants and partner staff. They oversee delivery of large, complex, and strategic projects for enterprise customers. Architects focus on one or more key lifecycle segments: opportunity, delivery, or operations. In-depth architecture specialties may include enterprise, industry, platform, and solutions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Develop project technology strategy by understanding key client objectives; diagnosing and mapping client requirements; articulating solution risks and barriers; recommending project approaches; preparing time and cost estimates; planning full project life cycle
• Lead other architects for a day-to-day project tracking, ensuring team is delivering on their efforts from technical perspective. This requires strong follow-up and initiative skills.
• Lead development of standards and practices for Java development
• Lead development of reference architecture, and standards for different application styles, including business process management, ETL, BI and rule engines
• Lead and facilitate information gathering sessions to validate business cases, gather and document business and functional objectives
• Implement architecture by building components and custom designs; prototyping; data migration; maintaining technical integrity and consistency; documenting system
• Develop and support verification of Java-based solution delivery, including testing processes, tools, and techniques.
• Manage customer relationship by communicating architecture standards and frameworks; answering questions; resolving concerns and issues, working with Development Managers to ensure architects are meeting their needs
• Actively participate in the business development lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities, participate in generating proposals, and support other efforts
• Increase organization effectiveness by identifying opportunities to leverage solutions to other engagements
• Enhance overall team accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answer technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teach improved processes; mentor team members
• Work closely with Common Services to support Java components and common platforms as a Common Service
• Improve information usefulness by tracking emerging technologies; evaluating their applicability to business goals and operational requirements
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
 
BACKGROUND TARGETEDExperience delivering Technology solutions with focus of solutions that are integrated with systems based on JEE and Spring Framework. Working on large scale mission critical applications. Demonstrated experience with integrating solutions with standard technology platforms such as MQ, BI, BPM, and Rules Engine. Appian BPM experience is most desired. ESB experience is nice to have.
