Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for an Environmental Health Safety & Sustainability Manager
for New Brunswick, NJ.

Provide leadership and professional guidance to the EHS teams. Lead the assessment, analysis, documentation, and reporting on EHS&S initiative implementation. Conduct studies and formulate plans for continuous improvement of EHS&S programs. Develop EHS budgets, managing projects within the budget and estimating future needs in terms of infrastructure, people, projects, etc…Serve as primary liaison between Leadership Teams and Campus Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability Leaders.
Provides focused technical expertise to promote workplace safety and environmental compliance by identifying and monitoring potential hazards to people, property and the environment. Reviews and recommends content of EHS program, ensuring alignment with regulatory and company standards.
Partner with site management teams to conduct the Maars/similar self - assessment and to develop and implement MAP to address EHS program deficiencies and ensure EHS regulatory compliance. Provide content to emergency response plans and participates on emergency response team. Implement EHS&S policies and programs developed for the site to assure that workplace conditions comply with all local government and company requirements. Develop, implement, and maintain an internal audit program for the site. Assist management in conducting risk assessments. Participate as the lead EHS&S representative in external audits and inspections by government agencies. Report on site EHS progress via dashboards and reports to site management teams and ensure that EHS&S performance data are reported on time to corporate recordkeeping systems. Review new regulations from outside agencies and new Johnson & Johnson EHS&S Standards to identify gaps against current site EHS&S Programs.
Maintain site ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications by aligning and maintaining site EHS&S Management systems consistent with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards. Ensure incident/accident investigations are done and that prevention measures are developed, implemented and monitored.
Identifies, facilitates and/or provides annual EHS&S training needs and programs for all employees to ensure full compliance.

Qualifications


University/Bachelor's degree is required. A degree in Science, Engineering or related EHS&S discipline preferred. 8 year experience is required in identifying, evaluating and controlling EHS&S in the workplace. Individual must have technical/working knowledge of state EHS&S regulations, as well as international EHS standards (e.g. ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001). Experience in successfully leading teams and collaborating with key partners and customers is required. Proven track record of being an agent for change is preferred. Ability to manage multiple projects and deal with all levels (Coaching and Influencing) of employees from shop floor associates to sites’ senior management is required.
Influencing skills with our hierarchical power and coaching skills are required. Strong communicator who is credible and self-assured; strong environmental technical skills ( waste, water and air) and Safety skills is required. Ability to lead and train others is required. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office is required.
Ability to work in a matrix team oriented environment and Cross Functional Team experience is required. Ability to develop individuals within an organization is an asset. Responsible for Budgets and costs within an organization is an asset. The ability to think strategically/BigPicture thinker, working with other leaders in the organization to take the organization to the next level is required for this position.
