GNY Underwriter and Claims Examiner Trainee Program

The Trainee Program offers a rare opportunity for individuals to receive intensive, hands-on training from expert professionals that can be directly transferred to the field. We are looking for the next generation of exceptional leaders.

In this 2 year comprehensive training program, you will experience a combination of self-study, classroom and on-the-job assignments. You will learn all aspects of insurance including rating, underwriting, claims and loss control. You will learn first hand how to analyze risk exposures and evaluate insurance and risk management requests. You will learn how to properly underwrite a policy, investigate claims, negotiate settlements, and authorize payments to claimants (policyholders who make a claim). Trainees take on more responsibility as they demonstrate competence in handling assignments and progress in their coursework. The technical knowledge and work relationships gained in the Trainee Program provides you with a sense of the different roles within the insurance industry and a well rounded foundation for a future career in insurance.

After successful completion of the program, you will immediately be assigned to a GNY department, joining a team of the organization's finest insurance professionals. The Trainee Program is offered in GNY’s midtown Manhattan office as well as its offices in East Brunswick, NJ. We currently have three open trainee positions in our midtown Manhattan location.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Risk Management, Math, English, Sciences or other related field preferred. Candidates should possess excellent verbal, written and computer skills. Motivation and confidence are key characteristics we are seeking. Candidates should have the ability to interact with others on all levels, throughout the organization as well as within the brokerage community.
