Key Accountabilities:
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with account(s), consistently delivering a high level of customer service including but not limited to selling in, taking fill in orders, checking stock on hand etc.
• Present products to accounts and create strategic assortment plans.
• Achieve established sales goals and deliver all orders by identified deadlines. Includes the tracking and follow though on order status from point of sale with the account to shipment.
• Achieve booking goals by quarter and by business unit as defined by Director of Sales.
• Leverage your market expertise, in terms of knowledge of the competitive landscape and trends in the lifestyle channel, to influence purchasing decisions resulting in sales.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with all internal departments (i.e. customer service, product marketing, etc).
• Track profitability with targeted accounts and manage all credit claims and issues to resolution.
• Conduct quarterly market visits to in your targeted accounts and key shopping districts in your territory.
• Proactively develop and execute creative grassroots activities with accounts to positively enhance brand image and increase demand with customers translating into sales growth.
• Oversee instore premium product presentations, merchandising and hardware/graphic displays
• Partner and invest with accounts on local events to drive traffic and instill sell through
• Ensure sales associates are trained and are able to communicate our brand and product stories to consumers
• Make recommendations on local advertising activity and where applicable invest with accounts into local advertising programs
• Be the on the ground Action Sports representative for any approaches on marketing partnerships and opportunities and route through Portland HQ
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
• Must possess the ability and lifestyle community connectivity to credibly sell the Originals line in footwear, apparel and accessories.
• Must have strong communication skills with internal and external clients. This includes the ability to write and speak clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles, and understand the appropriate time to use e-mail and/or telephone or a combination of both. Proven ability to delivery a high level of customer service, including the ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Strong ability to organize and plan. Including the use of effective time management skills, prioritizing and maximizing off "road time" to complete deadlines. Needs to have an effective system in place to manage office tasks.
• Strong presentation skills resulting in effectiveness in a variety of formal presentation settings within and outside of the company. The ability to command attention and manage group process during the presentation. Can change tactics midstream when something isn't working without audience noticing. Ability to understand and incorporate all levels of brand marketing plans in to presentations
• Ability to exercise problem solving skills. Develops solutions to situations before and as they arise. Anticipates issues and devises "suggested" solutions before proceeding. The analytical area goes beyond the initial suggested solutions; you must consider any precedents that might be set that will affect future business dealings. You must deal with the complexity of a decision, foresee its impact and choose a course of action that bests supports the organizational goals.
• Must possess the ability to manage relationships across a diverse account base. Manage issues pertaining to all facets of the business in the proper manner.
• Merchandising and planning skills, and the ability to apply them by connecting the merchandise plan into forecast, then executing accordingly.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and work in an autonomous environment.
• Familiarity of sales processes, procedures and policies.
• A strong understanding of retail sales practices and the ability to lay out practical and logical assortment plans based on retail space, inventory turn, and sell through.
• General knowledge of fashion trends, color, and the consistently changing retail environment.
• Technical proficiency with MS applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
• Ability to lift and carry samples and bags weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to travel 50-75% of the time.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum two years of related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Action Sports industry experience preferred.
