Senior Underwriter
We currently have an opening for a Senior Underwriter to join our OneBeacon Entertainment team in the New York City office. This position will be responsible for risk selection and rejection of new and/or renewal business; and, administering and monitoring underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
1) Examines, identifies, and evaluates exposures by analyzing documentation from various sources and makes underwriting decisions to accept, decline, or modify risks within assigned underwriting authority levels. Implements underwriting decisions in compliance with state laws and company guidelines.

2) Develops superior working relationships with brokers, and with internal and external partners, to successfully promote mutual operating goals in a production oriented environment.
3) Processes underwriting decisions and documents files via automated desktop underwriting systems and tools.
4) Collaborates with team members to manage work inventories and all production activities to provide accurate and timely service in accordance with corporate standards.
5) Ability to work in a multi-line environment that encompasses the following lines of business: Property, Inland Marine, General liability, Automobile, Umbrella and Workers’ compensation.
Requirements:
Must be able to identify and describe the exposures and hazards in considering an underwriting decision. Must show the ability to develop or have proven analytical, decision making, problem-solving, communication, listening and organizational skills. Must be able to work both independently and as a highly collaborative member of a team. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite as well as electronic underwriting systems. Must be able to work in a fast-pace, rapidly changing environment. May travel up to 20%.
Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree. This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of Commercial multi-lines underwriting experience. A background in Entertainment risks is preferred.
