Qualifications / Job Requirements : A minimum of 7-10 years of experience selling clinical trials services in the biopharmaceutical industry. Management experience is required. Strong knowledge of central laboratory and biomarker testing services is preferred. The individual must be available to travel up to 50%, have excellent communication skills, and be highly independent. Position location on east coast of US is strongly preferred.
Job Description:
Basic Function : The North American Sales Director is responsible for the business development and growth of LabCorp clinical trials services in North America. The Sales Director shall supervise a team of US field-based business development directors and develop/oversee both strategic and tactical programs to increase new sales contract value and divisional revenue.
Scope of Supervision : The Sales Director will manage a team of US field-based business development directors and is responsible for staff recruiting, training, coaching/development, territory goals/plans, and performance management.
Principle Functional Responsibilities :
1. Responsible for maximizing new sales awards and divisional revenue growth and meeting/exceeding divisional budget in North America.
2. Develops and implements sales strategy for North America in concert with Global Sales Director and cross functional divisional stakeholders.
3. Provides leadership (coaching, development, support, etc) to US sales team to enhance divisional sales performance.
4. Increases departmental focus on new sales efforts (securing new clients and new lines of business with with existing clients or “sales hunting”) and strategic selling.
5. Develops competitive positioning to differentiate LabCorp in the marketplace and maintains unified messaging to sales staff & clients/prospects.
6. Partners with divisional and corporate Marketing for development/ implementation of marketing/lead generation programs. Increases lead qualification/triage/prioritization of new sales prospects
7. Increases targeted selling programs (“strategic spearfishing”) and broadens the type of LabCorp services sold by BD team.
8. Drives new preferred provider deals and fosters a strategic and consultative sales process to enhance and strengthen client relationships.
9. Tracks and manages departmental sales metrics and goals
10. Ensures understanding of current/future client requirements and competitor service capabilities.
11. Partners with divisional Sales & Marketing leadership team to develop/enhance Salesforce.com utilization.
12. Serves as a key member of the divisional management team providing support and strategic/creative input to meet overall divisional objectives.
