Job: Senior Consultant - Engagement Manager

The Amplify Consulting Group is seeking candidates to join us in the role of Senior Consultant - Engagement Manager to lead projects of great significance to our clients and the education community. The Amplify Consulting team is at the forefront of education innovation, and has been involved with some of the most highly regarded projects in the country.  We take new software ideas from concept to launch, to delivery.   We also design and develop new solutions for state departments of education, school districts, and multi-state consortia and help them get more power from their existing systems and data.

Responsibilities of the Senior Consultant – Engagement Manager:

The Senior Consultant - Engagement Manager’s ultimate goal is to make sure that all engagement deliverables are met on time and on budget to the ultimate satisfaction of the client.  While supported by a Consulting Principal, the Engagement Manager is the day-to-day leadership face of the engagement work.
  • Shares the responsibility and accountability for the success of the technology solution with the lead Product Owner, from start to finish.
  • Acts as primary day to day client liaison (and typically owns the primary relationship with the client)
  • Is responsible for maintaining client agreement with project scope.
  • Is responsible for maintaining a focus on the big picture, and communicating this to the client and Amplify Consulting leadership.
  • Oversees client communications and coordination. 
  • Is responsible for maintaining project work plans with clear milestones, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Is responsible for defining resource requirements and securing resources to meet the work plan.
  • Facilitates and orchestrates the collaboration among team members and ensures alignment with plan.
  • Is responsible for identifying and communicating risks and obstacles to project completion, and for garnering the attention and resources necessary to address any risks.
  • Secures client sign-off of all deliverables and final solution delivery.
  • Accurately tracks project costs vs. plan

Basic Qualifications of the Senior Consultant – Engagement Manager:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7+ years’ experience with software project management  or client-facing management consulting
  • 5+ years’ proven success managing large scale projects ($2M - $4M) – Scope, Cost, Pricing
  • 2+ years’ experience leading/managing consultants
  • Ability to travel 40-60% during certain periods of the project

Preferred Qualifications of The Senior Consultant – Engagement Manager:     
  • Experience leading and working well with large teams and inspiring and motivating product owners and software developers (requires patience, humor, tenacity, optimism and leadership)
  • Ability to communicate well in and presentation forms.
  • Ability to lay out sound work plans and resolve competing trade-offs
  • Demonstrate flexibility in the approach to each project, including the ability to adapt approach and role to the particular demands of the client, internal team, and project.
  • Be self-directed with an entrepreneurial risk taking character  that requires minimal guidance or supervision
  • Mental Intellect and Speed: Ability to get up to speed quickly as one project closes, and another starts, and overlaps between projects occur.
  • Attention to detail and excellent analytic and problem solving skills.
  • Willingness to perform various levels of tasks as necessary.
