The Global Surgery Group, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Sr. Director, Business Analytics and Intelligence, to be located in Somerville, NJ; Cincinnati, OH or California (Diamond Bar, Santa Barbara, or Menlo Park area).

The Sr. Director, Business Analytics and Intelligence is responsible for leading and directing the Global Business Insights Center of Excellence team (GBI), in support of the General Surgery Business Unit, including oversight of the Global Strategic Marketing insights and analytics.

This position is responsible for creating, leading and directing a Competitive Intelligence and Advanced Analytics team in support of the Global Surgery Group. Position will liaise with key business unit insights teams and will serve as a key contact for Global Surgery Group Leadership. Role will create best in class analytical practices and process including: consolidating data, reporting, forecasting, data systems, analyzing competitive insights and macro environment trends.

Additionally this role will be responsible for creating and setting direction for systematic process and analytical standards for the Global Surgery Group. The role will require a high degree of business acumen and understanding, and must be able to activate a team to support for learning and insight needs across the business. Other key stakeholders include other Global Business Insights Business Unit teams, Business Unit Marketing, J&J Investor Relations, Strategic Planning, New Business Development and Finance Organizations. Position will have responsibility for setting direction and prioritizing all the projects and activities required to drive success for the business and the function.

The business is expected to experience solid growth over the next 5 to 7 years. The Group contains key surgical platforms such as Wound Closure, Hernia Repair, Minimally Invasive, Obesity, Energy, Biosurgery, Aesthetics, ENT, and Cardiovascular surgical products.

As part of the GBI Leadership Team, this role will provide a clear vision, mission, scope, and process for the GBI organization. This includes direct and indirect reports working across primary and secondary market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence, macro trends, sales analytics and Information Technology. Proven track record of performance that demonstrates strong leadership and ability to create a high performance Global Insights and Analytics Team. Create strategic analytics, forecasting and competitive Insights capability among several GSG business unit teams. Co-lead a data governance process with Multiple Global Surgery Centers of Excellence. Serve as lead for implementing and maintaining external strategic partnerships for data analysis and systems. Demonstrate an ability to influence multiple stakeholders to ensure a high-level of team involvement in key business discussions. Lead Team in flawless execution of all projects and activities required to drive success of the business; Proactively providing fact based insights and analytics programs to address strategic business needs; Leading and building upon currently available platforms (eg MosaIQ); Developing and implementing new innovative business analytics tools and techniques, standards and processes and implementing these across the Global Surgery Team.

The Sr. Director will also lead education and dissemination of existing competitive knowledge estate and market information for key business partners. Ensure integration of key Competitive Insights and analytical tools, techniques and process into Business Unit knowledge estate.

Qualifications


A minimum of a BS or BA in business, marketing, statistics, mathematics, or related field is required. MBA or MS is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in analytics and/or competitive intelligence is required. Business, New product forecasting, information technology is preferred. Experience in the medical device, hospital specialty, or healthcare field is preferred, but not required. Proven track record of managing in a matrix environment where a high degree of collaboration is needed. A minimum of 5 years of experience managing people is required. Excellent proven leadership, collaboration, communication and analytical skills are required. Ability to lead cross-functional teams, sometimes requiring managing and leading without authority as needed. Advanced ability to understand, translate and integrate multiple data sources into actionable insights to drive decision-making is required. Working knowledge of industry competitive insights tools and techniques is required. Knowledge of secondary data, competitive intelligence data, and strategic forecasting is strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in creative problem solving and team partnership is required. Experience in building and working within outside partnerships to create a strategic sourcing model is required. Due to the nature of information reviewed in the role, candidate must demonstrate a high level of discretion and confidentiality. Excellent verbal and written presentation skills are required. Strong project management skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft WORD; advanced EXCEL, and PowerPoint skills, and knowledge of analytical tools (i.e. SPSS or SAS) required.
