WKF&C is a managing general underwriting agency. Its business is comprised of property risks, general liability, professional liability and contingency as well as various specialty lines such as windstorm and earthquake deductible buybacks, equipment breakdown, inland marine, DIC programs and others.

The Underwriter will handle existing renewal business as well as grow new business, and maintaining those accounts throughout the term, whilst adapting to a disciplined underwriting approach and adhering to standards and best practices for WKFCs Property programs, ensuring assigned program underwriting results are consistent with established guidelines and profitable for the both the company and carriers. The incumbent will be a member of the WKFC Underwriting Core Team focused on driving efficiency and providing service to a fast-growing company.
This position will require the ability to handle relatively high volume of transactions, be it smaller, mid-sized and larger accounts of varying complexity. As a result, it is essential that the candidate can multitask, work efficiently and with a high degree of organizational skill.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • The solicitation, quoting, and binding of WKFC accounts in accordance with WKFC Underwriting Managers guidelines specific to your Underwriting Letter of Authority granted by the team leader and/or Chief Underwriting Officer.
  • Assist in developing, enhancing, and maintaining underwriting methods and techniques, achieving underwriting integrity in a cost-effective manner.
  • Complete documentation and management of all accounts assigned.
  • Specification of annual premium budgets by carrier and line of business and quarterly measurement of budgeted goals.
  • Review work completed by Brokers for accuracy. Apply appropriate factors to rating basis/formulas provided.
  • Responsible for the review and management of claims; underwriters are accountable to permissible loss/ratio standards.
  • Marketing visits to assigned wholesale clients relevant to your book of business.
  • Participate in all underwriting meetings/educational seminars/continued education courses offered.






Experience/Education/Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate education and/or work experience.
  • 5-10+ years in Property underwriting with experience underwriting various real estate classes of property insurance.
  • Broker’s license required and in good standing.
  • Demonstrated proficient technical underwriting expertise.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, decision making and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business acumen and deep knowledge of Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Self-directed Individual with initiative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Customer service skills: listening and understanding client business priorities.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
