Job: MS SQL Server Database Administrator/Programmer

Location: New York, NY 10001
Our healthcare industry client is seeking an MS SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA). The DBA
modifies and develops existing databases. They are responsible for monitoring and maintaining database performance, functionality as well as data back-up and recovery. Work as part of both the Production and Development teams to maintain high database performance and integrate new business solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                                            
·         Modify, correct and develop enhancements for all databases - primary database as assigned and
back-up database as needed. 
                                                                                                                
·         Assign and maintain security groups and permission levels for users within department active
directory securities. 
                                                                                                                                 
·         Monitor database performance, functionality and capacity.  Report to Manager of production
suggestions to optimize performance.
                                                                                                              
·         Run monthly security reports and tracks identified fields within the database to track changes and corrections by users.                                                                                                                
·         Maintain the upload of Data dumps to the data warehouse and import to related database tables
·         Run software updates and patches to the database and confirm integration to the working
environment
·         Allocate system storage and plan future storage requirements for the database system       
·         Modify the database structure, as required from new design elements                                  
·         Maintain testing standards and documentation specifications, as developed by the Manager of Development                                                                                                                            
·         Maintain full technical knowledge of all production systems                                                   
·         Responsible for modifications and corrections to the Database from the tracking system as
assigned by the Manager of Production
                                                                                                             
·         Create scripts for data maintenance, back-ups, scheduling jobs, and performance tuning.   
·         Assist in the assessment of the databases and within the network design and recommend
hardware, software and functional needs
                                                                                                  
·         Attend relevant programming and technical trainings to stay up to date on programming trends
and new technologies.
                                                                                                                             
·         Work with the Data Programmers and the Managers of Development and Production to create
and maintain data security/security groups
                                                                                     
·         Participate in DRP drills, data back-up, recovery and reconciliation testing. Make recommendations
for data recovery plans.
                                                                                                                 
·         Performs any other duties as may be assigned.                                                                      
                                                                                                                                                              

EDUCATION:

                                                                             

·         Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science or equivalent

EXPERIENCE AND/OR SKILLS REQUIRED:

·         2-3 years work experience in Data Programming/Database Administration
·         Demonstrates skill with a variety of data processing and reporting technologies including SQL Server,
Data Warehousing, and ETL as well as capturing data from disparate sources using SQL Server
Integration Services.
·         Ability to write programs and procedures utilizing the following languages and applications: Visual
basic, MS SQL Server Reporting Services, ASP.net
·         Demonstrates computer proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications
·         Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills
·         Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills with detail-oriented focus
